JEE-Main, the joint entrance examination, consists of two papers. NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions/Universities supported or recognized by participating State Governments conduct Paper 1 for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B.Tech.). JEE (Main) serves as a prerequisite for JEE (Advanced), a test for admission to IITs. For entry into the nation's B. Arch and B. Planning programmes, Paper 2 is administered.

For admissions in the following academic session, the JEE (Main)—2023 will be held over the course of 02 (two) sessions. Thus, the following advantages will accrue to the candidates:

  • If a candidate is unable to offer their full effort in one attempt, they will be given two chances to enhance their exam marks.

  • Students will gain first-hand experience taking an exam on their first try, and they will learn from their mistakes so they may do better on their second try.

  • Droppers won't have to squander a whole year because of this, which will lower their likelihood of dropping a year.

  • Any person who missed the exam due to unavoidable circumstances (like the board exam) won't have to wait a full year to retake it.

  • A candidate does not have to show up for both sessions. The JEE (Main) and 2023 NTA scores will be taken into account for the creation of the merit list and ranking if a candidate participates in more than one session.

JEE Main 2023: Changes Introduced

  • The registration cost for JEE Main 2023 has increased due to NTA. The current JEE Main 2023 application cost is 1000 for general male candidates and 800 for female candidates.
  • Changes have also been noted in the JEE Main eligibility requirements for 2023. The 75% requirement for admission to NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs has been reinstated by the authorities.
  • Additionally, there are fewer exam centres overall in India. Now, 399 Indian locations will administer the JEE Main 2023 exam.
  • Additionally, applicants for JEE Mains 2023 are required to include their parents' email addresses and mobile numbers.
  • The NTA has stated that when the candidate selects "passing year" as 2021 with "school board" as TamilNadu State Board of School Examination (Sec.), the Result Mode field will be disabled and the associated fields for marks and CGPA will be invisible. This is because no exams were held for the 2021 batch of Class 10 candidates from the Tamil Nadu State Board. View more information here.
