The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains is one of the most significant entrance examinations for students seeking admission to engineering and architecture colleges in India. The examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the Ministry of Education. The examination is conducted in both online and offline modes in multiple languages, including English and regional languages.

In recent years, the demand for conducting JEE Mains in Indian languages has been increasing. In 2021, the examination was conducted in 13 languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Marathi, Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Urdu, and English. The decision was taken to enable more students from different regions to appear for the examination in their preferred language.

Considering the growing demand for JEE Mains in multiple languages, the NTA has announced that the examination will be conducted in multiple languages in 2024 as well. The exact number of languages in which the examination will be conducted is yet to be announced. However, it is expected that the examination will be conducted in more Indian languages than before.

The decision to conduct JEE Mains in multiple languages is a significant step towards making the examination more accessible to students from different regions and backgrounds. It will help reduce language barriers and enable more students to appear for the examination in their preferred language, which will ultimately lead to a more diverse pool of applicants.

Moreover, conducting JEE Mains in multiple languages will also help students who are not fluent in English. In recent years, there has been a trend among students to take coaching classes to prepare for the examination in English, even if their first language is different. Conducting the examination in multiple languages will help eliminate the need for such coaching classes and enable students to prepare for the examination in their preferred language.

In conclusion, the decision to conduct JEE Mains in multiple languages in 2024 is a significant step towards making the examination more inclusive and accessible. It will enable more students to appear for the examination in their preferred language and help eliminate language barriers. The announcement has been widely welcomed by students and parents, and it is expected that the move will lead to a more diverse pool of applicants in the future.
